Radical

As the name suggests, the radical cut is for a cat that has severe hair problems and needs a complete overhaul.
Hair grows back quite quickly and my sympathetic and cat friendly approach will make sure that the cat looks good and feels so much better.
When Should Radical Grooming be Applied?
When the severity of certain coat conditions necessitates it or in very hot weather.
The radical grooming procedure has 4 main stages:
- Pre-treatment
- Diagnosis
- Treatment
- After Treatment
Below is a visual example of a radical cat grooming procedure. The cat looked great at the end and even enjoyed the bath!
1. Pre Treatment

Unfortunately, the severity of certain coat conditions necessitates radical or partial clipping.
2. Diagnosis

This applies to the above cat where both top and under carriage require a radical clip as a result of neglect. It is imperative to keep an eye on the state of your cat’s fur, both on top and on the under carriage as skin and dermatological problems, including severe dandruff can arise. This causes discomfort to the cat, as well as increasing the possibility of veterinary costs.
3. Treatment

Above you can see the felts that were removed in sections. A good quality regenerant shampoo is applied to remove scurf and condition the coat.
4. After Treatment

The completed modified Lion Clip.
